How To Reduce Cravings For Instant Gratification (Dopamine Cravings)

What if I told you that there’s a 30 minute hack you can do to reduce the power of your cravings by maybe 60-70% percent for the rest of the day.

Yes, this is not some clickbait stuff,it is something that actually works. 

One common reason for craving some instant gratification stuff in whatever form is because your dopamine levels are a bit on the lower side at that moment. Makes sense, right?

Yes, it does, but unfortunately it’s also easy to forget. 

I started noticing increased cravings for instant dopamine...

For example, a few weeks ago I started noticing that I was drinking more coffee during my work days. I didn’t think much of it other than, ok, I must have developed a stronger caffeine addiction now then.

But I also craved more junk food. Or, some form of instant pleasure to “reward” myself with later in the day.

I didn’t think much of that either, as it’s now been more than 4 years since I quit watching adult sites so I knew I wasn’t going to go there, but the junk food was still a bit of a problem.

How to reduce dopamine cravings - Try this out...

Again, I didn’t think much of it and a few days later I started a challenge where I decided to start every day by doing morning cardio, followed by a cold shower for 365 days in a row.

You know, just as a fun challenge for myself.

And what do you know, guys, after about maybe 4-5 days of doing this I started noticing, “Hey, wait a minute here. I’m not craving that much coffee any longer.” I just drank my -one or two cups a day- and was fine with that. 

Whereas previously I felt I needed 4 or 5 or 6 which is way too much for my anxiety. 

By starting the day with cardio and a cold shower I drastically reduced my need for instant gratification stuff...

And at the same time my cravings for junk food decreased. I no longer felt that need for reward later in the day. That craving for instant pleasure I talked about a minute ago.

Now, obviously this is easy to understand, but it's also easy to forget. 

So listen up here, physical exercise increases your dopamine transmission, and so too does taking a cold shower. 

It’s quite significant as well AND the dopamine stays elevated for several hours after your shower where they just slowly come back down to baseline without any crash. 

So this explains the reduced cravings for instant dopamine for the rest of the day.

Imagine what this could do for quitting porn - Or losing weight...

Now what do you think this could do for you if you’re trying to quit using adult sites?

Well, yes.

But libido and dopamine cravings are not the same thing.

The first one is your natural, bodily drive, and the second one is you wanting to escape into some instant pleasure activity. And if you don’t go for adult sites, then you maybe go for alcohol instead, or smoking, or junk food, or whatever. 

See what I’m saying?

So one way to tell the difference between real libido and cravings for dopamine is that if you’re craving dopamine then you often go for pretty much any shallow dopamine you can find. Whereas if you're just horny, well, then you just want sex. 

Another way to reduce cravings for instant gratification is by doing a dopamine fast...
